Ladies Walk Meadows
We park and meet at 10.00 am in Hedge End Road. Any latecomers should find the way into the playing field south of the houses, cross the field, go through the gate to the slope beyond and find the work party on the slope
Ragwort is an important food plant for the cinnabar moth caterpillars but it can also be poisonous to grazing animals. Grazing animals know not to eat the live plants but it can be a problem once the ragwort has died if it gets mixed in with other plants that the animals may eat.
To limit the problem, we will aim to pull the vast majority of ragwort plants in the designated area.
Please wear sturdy footwear as the ground may be uneven, and long sleeves may be an idea as the ragwort may be growing among other plants that could cause stings and irritations.
Good gardening gloves are also a requirement.
